Full Auto Division

Updated May 19, 2009

The rules governing all the Full Auto Division matches have been updated as of May 19, 2009. Please read through the information provided below. If you have any questions please contact Mickey Thompson via email at Mickey Thompson.

Everyone is welcome to come out to watch any of the matches. It is not required but highly recommend that you try shooting one of the IDPA, or IPSC type pistol matches before moving on to a Subgun or Belt Fed match. You must supply all your own equipment including firearm, ammo, magazines, magazine pouches and all needed safety equipment. The Subgun matches will be held on the Practical Pistol bays and the Belt Fed match will be held on the High Power range. If you are a new shooter you will be required to shoot the match with one of the experienced shooters that will point out any safety issues and answer any questions.

The stages for both the Subgun and Belt Fed matches will be a mixture of fun and tactical targets. They will always test your shooting abilities.
The stage RO will make any rulings required. If required, the Match Director will be the final authority on any ruling. Once you leave the range your score is final.
The dates for all matches are posted on the Calendar of Events at
http://riosaladosportsmans.com/calendar/month.php the calendar is updated to reflect any matches that have been cancelled for various reasons

SUBGUN MATCH INFORMATION

The Thursday Night Subgun match will be held on the second Thursday of each month starting at 5:00 P.M. The regular 5th Saturday matches start at 9:00 A.M. in the wintertime and 8:00 A.M. in the Summer time. Check the Rio Salado Calendar of Events for the latest information.

The following safety rules MUST be followed during the Subgun match.
ALL firearms MUST be cased AND unloaded between stages. This means pistols, rifles, shotguns, cannons, tanks, and subguns, i.e. ALL firearms. This is a cold range.
Cased firearms will go to safety impound table upon arriving at a stage. No uncased firearms are allowed except when actually shooting the stage. If a firearm needs to be adjusted, the CASED firearm can be taken to the firearm safety area (yellow brick structures) and adjusted.
Bring a copy of registration paperwork, i.e. Form 4, Form 3, or license, etc.
Watch your muzzle, trigger finger and the 180, any accidental discharge (AD) will be grounds for match disqualification.
Any significant safety violation will be grounds for match disqualification.
Eye and Ear protection is mandatory.
The Thursday evening match will be 3 stages, the regular 5
th Saturday match will be 4 stages, the State match will be 7 stages, all using IPSC style scoring.
This is a Subgun match, using only pistol caliber ammunition with FMJ or HP bullets only.

Any firearm used in a Subgun match must fire pistol caliber ammunition. The acceptable firearms will be a full auto submachine gun OR a semiautomatic rifle chambered in pistol caliber cartridge. M1 Carbines have been determined to be acceptable, but MUST fire FACTORY lead core ammo ONLY.

There can be NO part substitution done on any firearm during a match except to replace a broken part. This means however your gun was setup for the first stage, it must remain in that state for the entire match. If you are found to be changing parts during the match, you will be disqualified.

If you want to recover your brass after shooting a stage you must do so before leaving the stage. Once you leave the stage even if only for a short time, your brass is considered abandoned and is fair game for anyone to pick up.

Please keep track of your time card. If it is lost during the match you have a couple of choices.

1.  Find it
2.  Continue shooting but any stages already completed will show as DNF.
3.  Quit shooting the match

Hopefully the above choices will clearly indicate DON”T LOSE YOUR SCORE CARD.

 About Mickey Thompson

My name is Mickey Thompson and I am the Full Auto division head at Rio Salado Sportsmen Club.  I have lived in Arizona since 1981 and have been a RSSC member since 1993 and an NRA member since 1985. I started shooting and reloading in the mid 70’s enjoying mainly casual target shooting. I was a regular shooter of Tuesday Night Steel for many years, and over the years have shot high power, skeet, trap and sporting clays. I am an avid and knowledgeable collector, of all types of machine guns. My interest in machine guns has focused mainly on belt-fed machine guns, including the M-60, Browning aircraft and ground guns, an MG-42, a Tippmann 50HB, and a Maxim 08/15. I enjoy anytime I spend with my finger on a trigger and discussing the unique history of machine guns. I can be found most any Saturday morning on the RSSC public range, or at a Full Auto match.
